In our office we don’t use things that can be broken or be worn down in the long run. We focus on the two extremes: the long lasting resource of materials and the short span of life in temporary constructions. If you think of the stone pavement of Via Apia, you still can use it! It gets even more beautiful of the wear and tear of centuries. If you grow tired of the site, just move and reuse the material. If you on the other hand use as little as possible of resources, you can work with small and quick means. Go for locally grown wood. This is our attitude!
In many projects the overall economy is handled in the short run. It is hard to get arguments for a more expensive investment in materials from the start. But if you look at the overall cost with maintenance over a longer span it quickly adds up… One effective way is also to use two extremes at the time to even out the investment in the start. Instead of covering 100% with concrete paving that grows ugly with time and you have to waste it. Pave it with 30% local natural stone and the rest with gravel. It will be the same investment and also you get the bonus of permeable surfaces for drainage! Same investment with and open end and good resource use…

Master plan for 200 summerhouses in the surroundings of the southwestern Aegean coastland in Turkey.
Participation in a garden show located in an old English landscape park outside of Stockholm. Our concept was to create a landscape garden working with the site that we were given, exploring the full potential of the site. We weaved between the tree trunks and created a canopy, forming an intense space underneath.
Stendörren viewing platform is now open for public!
The Mornington Hotel has been turned into a ”Microfarm” this season. We planted different crops in the Entrance area by the lobby, three small ”fields of crop”, the biggest circle planted with Barley. Who knows, it might be used for brewing beer in the Lobbybar!
